The new straightening machine with two hyperbolic rollers for annealed round bars from 100 to 250mm is currently in its start-up phase. The machine was built in a new 8700 sq m, 13m high workshop at the Riviera Francia plant in Padua.
Built by the company Danieli Centro Maskin, the new machine is fitted with the very latest technology and straightens, saws and bundles the round bars in weighed packages. The machine is also fitted with non-destructive testing line controls for both surface (leakage flux technology) and core defects (ultrasonic/phased array technology).
This investment has enabled the company to expand its range of rolled round bars (this machine is in fact an addition to a similar system for smaller bars that the company is already using) and conforms to Acciaierie Venete's strategy to continue specialising in the manufacture of high-quality products for particular market segments and improve the service for its customers. This investment is the third stage in a larger project based on continuous casting for large round bars (those with a diameter of 600mm), integrated rolling mill with reversible roughing rolls to manufacture hot-rolled round bars (up to 250mm) with excellent reduction ratio.
